sour cream apple squares
2 cups flour
2 cups firmly packed brown sugar
½ cup softened butter
1 cup chopped nuts
1 or 2 teaspoons cinnamon
1 teaspoon baking soda
½ teaspoon salt
1 cup sour cream
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 egg
2 cups peeled, finely chopped apples
1. preheat oven to 350 degrees.
2. lightly spoon flour into measuring cups; level off.
3. in large bowl, combine first three (3) ingredients; blend at low speed until crumbly.
4. stir in nuts.
5. press 2 ¾ cups crumb mixture unto ungreased 13x9 inch pan.
6. to remaining mixture, add cinnamon, soda, salt, sour cream, vanilla, and egg; blend well.
7. stir in apples.
8. spoon evenly into base.
9. bake 25 to 35 minutes until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.
10. serve with whipped cream if you feel feisty |
